Legendary Actress Rekha Leaves Netizens Spell Bound with Vogue Arabia Photo Shoot

Veteran actress Rekha’s striking photographs on Vogue Arabia’s cover have taken the internet by storm. 

After aeons the actress has been seen on the cover of a magazine. It is not often that we get to see the legend in the limelight. 

She’s seen gracing the cover of Vogue magazine in stunning and majestic ensembles carefully curated by renowned designer Manish Malhotra. 

This has been the actress’s first ever Vogue cover shoot. Rekha and her right hand Farzana Jafri have been credited for creating these powerful images. 

She adorned clothes which were a fusion of both east and west. The actress simply looks a class apart in these eye grabbing images. 

Speaking about the icon the Editor of Vogue Arabia wrote, “Standing as Bollywood’s most iconic living legend, Rekha graced the silver screen in over 300 movies, with an acclaimed career glimmering with success, but also seasoned with a cloud of mystery.”

“Besides not taking on any acting role since 2014, Rekha also hasn’t done any interviews for over two decades”, he added. 

The invitation to grace Vogue magazine happened in a very “organic and almost innocent way.” The two met at Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, in March where after a one minute chat, an invitation was made. 

Rekha in turn thanked the editor in chief in these words, “I simply loved the way it chose me. The way Manuel, the editor-in-chief, followed his own instinct, and had the courage and kindness to ask me, was endearing and irresistible.” 

Though the actress isn’t active in Indian cinema she affirms that the right project will find her. She has given a candid interview to Vogue Arabia where she has spoken about her career, life, her mother, her taste for aesthetics, her home, new talent and her approach to work. Her interview is captivating in every way as the actress has a way with words. She epitomises beauty, intelligence and wisdom at the same time. 

These viral photographs prove that the legendary actress is as elegant, fiery, magnetic and charming as she has always been. She still holds the power to spell bound audiences even now. 

“Whether I make films or not, it never leaves me. I have my memories to relive what I love. And when the time is right, the right project will find me.”

In 2010, Rekha was conferred the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, by the President of India for distinguished service of the arts.
