Baby Chimp Meeting His Human Foster Parents Video Has Gone Viral

A video has gone viral which shows the love between a chimpanzee and his foster parents, and his foster parents are humans. The video was shared last month by the Zoological Wildlife Foundation of Miami. It shows the reunion of Tania and Jorge Sanchez with the chimp called Limbani. The excitement and joy expressed in the chimp’s face show the love he has for his foster parents. He was so delighted to see them that he spat out its drink and jumped to hug them. This goes to show even animals have strong emotions.

The expression of the chimp’s unbridled joy has touched the hearts of many who have watched the video.

Who is Limbani

Limbani is a young chimp who was born in a private facility in August 2016. He was suffering from pneumonia and its mother rejected it and literally handed him over to the foster parents.

The baby chimp was treated for two months. A veterinary specialist and human pediatrician were roped in to help clear his lungs. Tania Sanchez and her husband Jorge took care of the chimp throughout his treatment.

After his recovery, Limbani was shifted to the Zoological Wildlife Foundation. Even though he was away from his foster parents he did not forget them. This was evident from his reaction when he saw them. Limbani would not have survived had there not been modern medicine and the human touch.

The joyous reaction

Limbani was drinking something when he notices Jorge walk into the room. Immediately he spits out his drink and jumps up and down. He was so overwhelmed with joy that he emits a happy noise and jumps into his foster dad's arms and hugs him tight. The reaction continues when he notices Tania. He moves to her and urges her to hug him. The reaction is so adorable and loving that it fills our heart with amazement and wonder.

Tania posted the video on her personal Instagram account. She added a comment stating the reaction was the “Definition of TRUE LOVE!!!!” and she also thanked ZWF for giving her and her husband an opportunity to be a part of Limbani’s life.

The video has garnered over 160,000 views on Instagram and close to 40,000 likes.

The ZWF have stated chimpanzees use different ways of communicating which consists of sounds as well as non-verbal signs. They said, "Chimps have expressive faces which are important in close-up communications." They also added, "When frightened, a full closed grin causes nearby individuals to be fearful, as well. Other facial expressions include the lip flip, pout, sneer, and compressed-lips face.” They have also said whenever Tania and Jorge come and visit the chimp, his reaction is the same.
