A young Australian boy by the name of Corona De Vries who is only eight years of age has written a heartwarming letter to ‘Toy Story’ actor Tom Hanks.
In his letter addressed to Tom and his wife Rita Wilson, he first enquired about their well being after battling coronavirus.
Corona wrote, “I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus," He added, “Are you OK?”
He then revealed that he loved his name ‘Corona’ although his friends in school were bullying him and calling him ‘Coronavirus’ instead.
To this Tom replied, “Dear Friend Corona”.
“Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful! Thank you for being such a good friend - friends make friends feel good when they are down”, he added.
He shared these precious words with the young lad: “You are the only person I've ever known to have the name Corona - like the ring around the sun, a crown.”
Corona was also lucky to acquire a prized possession from Tom. It was a Smith and Corona retro typewriter that he used when he was under quarantine in Australia.
“I thought this typewriter would suit you,” Tom said. “I had taken it to the Gold Coast, and now, it is back - with you. Ask a grown-up how it works. And use it to write me back.”
As told by the actor earlier, this is the same typewriter Tom Hanks used in Australia where he was for the shoot of Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann.
According to the Australian media Nine News, Corona is very happy to hear back from his favourite Toy Story star. This news was confirmed by Corona’s family.
Lastly, Hanks signed off the letter by saying: “PS! You got a friend in ME!” a reference to the song in the Toy Story film.
