PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the semi-finals to secure a place in the semi-finals of each women's event. The match lasted 4 minutes in less than an hour, Sindhu finally settled, winning the first match 21-13. She got a tough fight from Yamaguchi in the second game but went on to win the game 22-20, thus, winning the match. This marks the Sindhu victory in 4 consecutive games at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
