Shabana Azmi Is Back Home, Thanks Everyone for Prayers and Wishes

There is good news for the Indian film fraternity. Senior actress Shabana Azmi has recovered completely after the unfortunate mishap on January 18 and has come back home on Saturday. 

She has been in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Ambani Hospital for over two weeks after the accident that left her with a head injury and damages to her bone. 

Shabana Azmi thanked her well-wishers and friends for their prayers and wishes. She mentioned Tina Munim, the team of doctors and the nursing team at the hospital for their “sterling care.”

Earlier Javed Akhtar had updated followers on Shabana Azmi’s health condition on the microblogging site. He thanked friends and well-wishers. 

Both the actress and her driver were seriously injured in the mishap that took place near the Khalapur toll plaza, around 60 km from Mumbai. The actress was first admitted to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and later to Kokilaben hospital. Shabana Azmi’s accident came as a big blow to the film community and many of her loyal followers. 

An FIR was lodged against Shabana Azmi’s driver Yogendra Kamat for negligent driving. According to ANI, the police have registered a case under Sec 279 (Rash driving on public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life/personal safety of others) of IPC and sections of Motor Vehicles Act. 

 

Shabana Azmi’s car had rammed into a truck that left her car beyond recognition. Javed Akhtar who was in a separate car escaped with just minor injuries.
