Actress Samantha Prabhu has revealed in her recent Instagram entry that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called ‘Myositis.’
Actress Samantha Prabhu has revealed in her recent Instagram entry that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called ‘Myositis.’
In this health condition the autoimmune system of the body attacks its own muscles.
In her Insta Post, one can see her from the back in a hospital room. She's seen forming a heart emoticon with her fingers.
She captioned the picture with these captivating lines,, “Your response to the Yashodha Trailer was overwhelming. It is this love and connection that I share with all of you, that gives me the strength to deal with the seemingly unending challenges that life throws at me. A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission.”
She further added, “Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery.

The condition Myositis causes inflammation, pain and weakness of the muscles. It falls under a group of rare conditions.
The most common muscles that get affected are around the shoulders, hips and thighs. There are several factors that can lead to Myositis. Inflammatory conditions like Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis, Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis can cause it. Myositis caused by inflammatory conditions are said to be more serious. This condition can also be caused by certain drugs and even viruses.
Myositis can also be caused by intense exercises and may resolve after rest or recovery.
