In his pre-recorded message he welcomed all the passengers and expressed his desire to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of “passenger comfort” and “service.”
“The Tata group welcomes Air India’s new customers and is excited to work together to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of passenger comfort and service”, Ratan Tata said.
Air India took to Instagram/Twitter and shared this message, “A warm welcome extended by Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, Chairman Tata Trusts, to our passengers onboard Air India flights.”

It was Business Tycoon and Aviator JRD Tata who founded the airline in 1932. It was then known as Tata Airlines.
The airlines became a public limited company on 29 July 1946 after World War II. It came to be known as Air India.
Tata bought back Air India in October last year. On October 8, Air India was sold to Talace Private Limited; a subsidiary of Tata Group’s Holding Company for Rs. 18,000 crore. The government however officially handed over the airline to the Tata Group on Thursday.
Tata Group chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday before the handover.
