Legendary Football Player Diego Maradona is No More

Football icon Diego Maradona passed away aged 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest on Wednesday and was pronounced dead. Maradona underwent surgery recently to remove a blood clot from his brain.

The legend made his career debut for Argentinos Juniors just before his 16th birthday and his debut for Argentina at age 16 in February 1977. Maradona will forever be known for his “Hands of God” goal against England.

The reports from Argentina which broke the news about the death of Diego Maradona has caused shock around the world, leaving millions of fans heartbroken. Argentina will now observe three days of national mourning, while players across the globe will wear black armbands and pay their respects.

He ended his playing career back in Argentina, returning to Boca. He had a brief and controversy-packed spell as Argentine national team coach from 2008 to 2010 before coaching in the Middle East and Mexico.

Years of drug use, overeating and alcoholism truncated his stellar career and altered his appearance from a lithe athlete who could slalom effortlessly through teams to a bloated addict who nearly died of cocaine-induced heart failure in 2000.

But he reinvented himself in a stunning comeback in 2008 as coach of the Argentina team, persuading managers that with sheer charisma he could inspire the team to victory, despite a lack of coaching experience.

Brazil legend Pele was among those to pay tribute saying: "One day we'll kick a ball together in the sky above."

Adios Diego Armando Maradona. You'll always reign our hearts as the King of Football..
