Hyderabad Rape Case Accused Shot Dead in Encounter, India Encounters Divided Opinion
The 4 accused in Hyderabad rape case are shot dead Friday morning in police encounter. The nation stands divided in opinion.
The last few days in India saw humongous protest against the heinous rape and murder of 26-year-old vet Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad. However, it seems, none ever saw this coming. The 4 accused in severe charges were shot dead in a police encounter around 6:30 in the morning, right where Dr. Priyanka’s body was found.
According to reports, the 4 men aged between 20-24 attempted fleeing when they were taken to the crime scene to recreate the episode. One of the accused snatched a weapon from the policemen and tried to attack the force. The police fired in self-defence and all of the 4 were subsequently killed.
As soon as this sensational development spread across all news portals, the Cyderabad police started receiving a chorus of praise. A majority of the Indian mass demanding #JusticeForDisha welcomed this encounter as a righteous measure.

However, the nationals deviated in opinion, in terms of its executional course of action. BJP’s Maneka Gandhi said, “Very dangerous thing to have happened. Those people were in any case going to get hanging as punishment for the heinousness of their crime. But you cannot kill people because you want to”.

Late Dr. Priyanka Reddy’s parents have expressed their joy reacting to the encounter. Her father shared, “My daughter's soul must be at peace today,”.
