19 deaths have been reported from Hyderabad alone which includes a 2-month-old baby. 9 people died after a compound wall collapsed and fell on 10 houses during the night due to heavy rains. 5 people are reportedly missing.
Streets looked like rivers and houses were heavily flooded. Cars and vehicles got swept by strong water currents. Several parts of the city have been without electricity as electricity polls had been uprooted.
The Musi River in Hyderabad is overflowing. The roads beside the river are being vacated. Hussain Sagar lake is also brimming with large amounts of water.
According to the weather department the state received 144% excess rainfall than normal in the last two weeks while Hyderabad recorded 404% excess rainfall than normal.
In Banjara Hills a 49 year old man running a naturopathy clinic was electrocuted when he was trying to remove water from his apartment.
Horrific videos circulating on social media show a high degree of devastation in Telangana due to incessant rains.
A video that has caught the attention of viewers is of a man being washed away in Falaknuma locality. Helpless people witnessed him being washed away by the strong current. According to news agency PTI, the man was later rescued by police and is safe.

Telangana Urban Development Minister, KT Rama Rao, held a meeting with the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) and worked on restoring electricity supply to parts that had been affected.

The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and Army are working on the relief efforts. The NDRF has rescued 1000 people from flooded areas in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
PM Narendra Modi spoke to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his Andhra counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and assured them of all possible support.
