Celebrities And Friends Remember Beverly Hills 90210 Star Shannen Doherty
Tributes pour in for actress Shannen Doherty, best known for her roles in "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed," who passed away at 53 after a nine-year battle with cancer.
Tributes are pouring in from well-known celebrities for actress Shannen Doherty who lost her nine year long battle with cancer. She passed away on July 13. The actress was best known for her roles in famous TV sitcoms of the 90s like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed. She was only 53 years old.
The actress played the rebellious teen, Brenda Walsh, in Beverly Hills, 90210. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Later in 2017, she revealed that she was in remission. The cancer, however, caught up two years later.
It is widely believed that just like her rebellious characters in movies , the actress was strong-willed and resilient in real life too. She spent the last few months of her life revealing interesting aspects of her career and life’s journey in her podcast Let's Be Clear.
Even after being diagnosed with Cancer, she never stopped working. She continued appearing in movies and TV shows. While she initially kept her Cancer diagnosis a secret, she decided that being candid and honest about her health was the best way to go. Shannen decided to share details about her health struggles to be a source of help and comfort to others who are treading a similar path.
The Charmed actor threw a lot of light on Cancer in her interviews and how she personally dealt with the health condition. Even when the situation got tough towards the end, she remained steadfast in her faith and hope that she would be able to recover.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for roles in movies such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, recalled her thirty year old friendship with Shannen Doherty.
“How do you possibly find the right words to sum up 30 years of friendship? I keep reminding myself it only hurts this much because, there was so much love. Thank you, for all your kind words and support. I love all the messages about how [Shannen] was important to you. So let's honor her. More than anything, Shan loves animals, especially dogs. In her memory let's support our favorite animal charities. Whether that's donating money, stopping by your local shelter and just offering cuddles and walks to animals housed there or even just tagging them in the comments so other people can learn about their work. I know that would make our girl happy (and illicit that deep throaty laugh we all loved)” wrote Sarah Michelle Gellar on her IG profile.

Holly Marie Combs who worked with Shannen in Charmed, wrote this about her friend and colleague:
“My better half of 31 years. There is a hollow in my chest and I can't seem to catch my breath. A part of me is missing even though I know exactly what you would say to me right now. I know exactly what you would tell me to do right now. I know your undying spirit will live in me and my kids who you loved as your own. They will walk with your sense of purpose and pride. They will be truthful and stand up for what is right.
Your fire will live on in them and the many other Charmed ones you helped raise. A fierce fighter till the end. My most ardent champion. My loyal protector. My best friend. You taught me the meaning of family. You were and will be forevermore my sister. I love you”, she wrote further.
Alyssa Milano, who worked with Shannen in Charmed and shared a complicated relationship with her co-star, issued a statement to Variety. She said, “It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of. She was a talented actress, beloved by many and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”
Jason Priestley who played Shannen’s twin brother in Beverly Hills 90210 wrote on Insta: “Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time.”
