In a shocking case emerging from Bangalore, a woman was allegedly attacked by a Zomato delivery executive over a delayed order.
She had placed an order through Zomato and apparently, the food arrived very late. Since she was working from morning, she placed an order from Zomato at 3:30 pm. She was to receive the order at 4:30 pm however it arrived beyond the expected time.
Following this, she called the Zomato customer service requesting them to either cancel the order or give her a free delivery.
“And then the Zomato delivery guy came here. He was so rude... I didn't open the full door, I spoke to him from a gap in the door and told him am talking to the customer care... I told him I don’t want the order since it was very late. But he refused to take the order and started screaming, 'bloody I am your slave or what'... It felt so threatening, I got scared and I tried to push the door. But he was so huge; he pushed back the door, snatched the order back from me and punched me. Then he ran away...”

A case was filed in Bengaluru’s electronic police station after which the delivery boy was arrested. “We can't emphasize how sorry we are, rest assured we'll take necessary actions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future,” Zomato tweeted.
There are also stories emerging that the woman hit the man with a slipper. In an act of self-defence, he retaliated by pushing her.
“According to him, he wanted to hand over the food and get on with another delivery. The woman demanded a refund, which was beyond his capacity. As she refused to accept the order, there was a verbal altercation. When she tried to hit him with her sandals, he pushed her in self-defence, which resulted in the injury,” said an electronic city police station official.
Investigations are still underway. Online users on Twitter have reacted to the incident and they desire a fair trial. They insist on hearing versions from both the parties.
