Air India Express Flight Faces Technical Glitch, Landing Gear Gets Stuck Before Landing at Trichy
Hydraulic failure of Trichy bound Air India Flight from Sharjah causes Emergency at Trichy airport, flight hovered for close to 2 hours to burn excess fuel.
Trichy Airport witnessed a full emergency after a flight from Sharjah was unable to land because of a technical snag in the aircraft. The issue could not be resolved and the flight had to hover above Trichy Airport for almost 2 hours.
IX613 was bound for Trichy from Sharjah and during the landing, the flight faced issues with landing gear. It hovered above the airport to burn the excess fuel. This is a measure taken by most airliners when they need to perform a belly landing. Burning the excess fuel limits the chances of catching fire.
The Air India Express Flight IX 613 from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah has landed safely at Tiruchirapalli airport. DGCA was monitoring the situation. The landing gear was opening. The flight has landed normally. The airport was put on alert mode," claimed one of the Civil Aviation Authority.
The runway length needed to be considered by the aircraft which was also a reason behind the de-fueling of the aircraft. The statement from Air India did not mention anything about the emergency from the crew aboard the aircraft.
"After reporting a technical snag, the aircraft circled multiple times in the designated area as an abundant precaution before making a safe precautionary landing,". “The cause of the snag will be duly investigated. In the interim, an alternative aircraft is being arranged for the onward journey of our guests.” claimed one of the spokespersons from the Civil Aviation Authority.
Though there was a challenging situation at the airport, the local authorities have specified that no concern was made as the situation was under control and the ground staff was handling the case effectively.
