Actress and Film Maker Pooja Bhatt Gives Her Take on Nepotism

The “nepotism” debate has been doing the rounds on social media for quite some time since many unfortunate incidents shrouded the industry over the past month.

Prominent stars like Kangana Ranaut have openly discussed their take on the topic while there are others like Pooja Bhatt who have come forward and given their version of the story.

“Have been asked to comment on the hot topic ‘nepotism’ that people are raging about. As someone who hails from a 'family' that has launched more new talent - actors, musicians and technicians - than the entire film industry combined, I can only laugh. Facts don't find takers. Fiction does.”

She explained that there was a time when people accused the Bhatt family of having something against established actors because they always launched new actors instead of star kids or experienced actors. “And now the same people play the nepotism card? Google and tweet guys and won't even say think and speak”, she added.

She went on to say that film like Sadak2 has brought new talent like Suniljeet who is a music teacher from Chandigarh whose song ‘Ishq Kamaal’ was featured in the film on the first go. “Toh yeh 'Nepotism' shabd se kissi aur ko zalil karne ki koshish karo doston. (Use the ‘Nepotism’ word to humiliate someone else).

There was a heated debate between Pooja and Kangana on twitter when Pooja was asked to share her views on Nepotism and that’s when Pooja came up with these tweets.

Pooja tweeted, “As for Kangana Ranaut-She is a great talent, if not she wouldn’t have been launched by Vishesh films in “Gangster”. Yes Anurag Basu discovered her, but Vishesh Films backed his vision & invested in the film. No small feat. Here’s wishing her the very best in all her endeavours.”

Pooja escalated the debate when she put forth a video where Kangana bagged the Best Debut Award for the Film ‘Gangster’ which was launched by Vishesh films owned by Pooja’s father Mahesh Bhatt and uncle Mukesh Bhatt. The video shows Kangana thanking Mukesh before heading to the stage. Kangana’s twitter team also responded back and the debate continued. With every bollywood personality coming clean on their contribution to the film industry, looks like the heated debate on “Nepotism” is here to stay.
