Angelina Jolie’s biographical drama ‘Maria' Gets standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. The actress was emotionally shaken by the response of the audience.
Actress Angelina Jolie’s biographical drama ‘Maria’ received an eight-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. The audience gave the movie a massive applause, following the screening, that left the Oscar winner emotionally shaken.
The premiere of the movie took place at the Sala Grande Theatre on Thursday. In many videos, the actress appears emotionally moved after witnessing people’s positive response to the movie.
She was captured wiping her tears while her co-star Pierfrancesco Favino was seen comforting her. The director of ‘Maria’, Pablo Larrain, escorted her up the stairs, and she bowed to the audience.
For the occasion, she wore a custom made champagne coloured gown teamed with a fur coat.
The actress was also highly praised by viewers for her humility when she knelt down and greeted one of her fans who is suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Angelina placed her hand on his shoulder and was deeply engaged while speaking to him. This doesn’t come as a surprise as the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider actress is well known for her philanthropic, empathetic and compassionate nature.
‘Maria’ film revolves around the life of Greek opera singer Maria Callas. Angelina will portray the character of the Greek singer. Valeria Golino and Haluk Bilginer also feature in the movie. The film focuses on the last years of Maria in the year 1977 in Paris. The movie will soon release on OTT platform Netflix.
“I take very seriously the responsibility for Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream,” she told Daily Mail.
