Winter Paralympics 2018 is said to be by far the largest ever Winter Paralympics. A record number of 567 athletes will be participating from 48 countries. For the first time team North Korea is joining the Winter Paralympics. Georgia and Tajikistan will also make their debuts in the Winter Games this time. The 'neutral Paralympic athlete' delegation, originally from Russia will be taking part as well.

The opening ceremony of 2018 Winter Paralympics is slated to start at 11:00 GMT. The stadium holds a capacity of 35,000 and was especially built for the 2018 Winter Games.

The Paralympics is going with the tagline ‘passion moves us’, although the passion couldn’t unite North and South Korea this time. Unlike, 2018 Winter Olympics where both the countries entered the stadium with a unified flag, this time they have decided to march separately.

The PyeongChang Winter Paralympics will be awarding 80 medals in 6 sports - alpine skiing, snowboarding, para-ice hockey, wheelchair curling, nordic skiing and biathlon. The Winter Games will close on 18th March, Sunday. 2018 Winter Olympics was officially opened by South Korea President Moon Jae-in.
