“He Fashioned India’s Style”: Amul Honours Legendary Designer Rohit Bal with An Instagram Tribute
Amul India dedicates a black and white graphic tribute to the pioneer of India’s fashion Industry, Rohit Bal.
Several members of the fashion and Indian film industries gathered on Monday evening to pay their last respects to legendary designer Rohit Bal at a prayer meeting.
Others took to social media to pay tribute to the pioneer of India’s fashion industry. The loss of this legendary fashion designer has sent shockwaves through both the fashion world and the Indian Film Industry, leaving many in disbelief and mourning.
The funeral ceremony took place recently at the national capital. The designer had been battling a cardiac issue for many years. His health, however, deteriorated over the past year.
He recently returned to the runway, showcasing his collection titled “Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe” at the Lakme Fashion Week in October 2024.
Amul India also honoured the star designer by posting a tribute on Instagram. “He fashioned India’s style” was incorporated into the black-and-white graphic created by team Amul.
They captioned the post, “#Amul Topical: Tribute to one of the country’s fashion design icons.”
Many online viewers remembered the designer and posted their heartfelt comments in the comments section of Amul’s tribute.
Rohit Bal was born in the city of Srinagar to a Kashmiri Pandit family. He did his schooling at Woodlands House School and Burn Hall School.
His family shifted to Delhi where he completed his graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephens College. He further completed a short fashion course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
Rohit Bal embarked on his fashion career journey in 1986 at the Company Orchid Overseas Pvt. Ltd with his brother before starting his independent collection in 1990.
He was known to blend traditional and modern aesthetics into his designs. His vibrant and colourful creations generally reflected royalty. Rohit Bal significantly changed the fashion scene in India and took his creations to a global platform. The iconic designer’s name will forever be intertwined with fashion, glamour, style and innovation.
