Oshin Ale Magar was one of the flight attendants who never made it on that fateful day when flight 9N-ANC ATR-72 crashed into the Seti river gorge in Pokhara, Nepal.
It was Sunday and her family was preparing for the Maghe Sankranti festival. Her father Mohan Ale Magar, a retired Indian Army personnel, had requested his daughter early in the morning not to go to work as it was a day of festival.
According to a report Oshin told her father that she would complete two flights first before celebrating the festival. Unfortunately fate had different plans for her.
Oshin was in Kathmandu after she began her job in Yeti airlines. Originally from Madi, Chitwan, she has two sisters and one brother; she being the eldest. Her brother is only four years old.
She took her brothers and sisters to Kathmandu for their studies and had also invited her parents to Kathmandu to stay with her for the last six months.
She studied in Gaindakot and in India and graduated from the Sahara Air Hostess Academy in Kathmandu. Oshin got married two years ago in Pokhara and her husband is currently in the UK.
Her parents have come to Pokhara to identify the body of their daughter. The entire village of Madi is mourning her death.
The flight 9N-ANC ATR-72 was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara and was scheduled to land at 10: 58 am. Just minutes before landing, the aeroplane crashed into the Seti River Gorge. There were 68 passengers and four crew members on board.
This crash is said to be the deadliest since a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a hill while attempting to land in Kathmandu in 1992, killing all 167 people on board.
