Xiaomi has kept its word of bringing more of its Mi Ecosystem products to India this year, with the launch of the Mi Body Composition Scale in India for Rs 1,999. It is a smart device that can precisely detail your muscle mass, BMI, visceral fat, bone mass, body fat, weight, basal metabolism, total fluid content, and more to give you a total body score.

Xiaomi is highlighting three key features of the Mi Body Composition Scale. The Smart Scale is based on a clean and minimalist design. It can provide accurate body composition statistics, and is also compatible with the company's in-house Mi Fit app. Xiaomi says the scale uses "complex algorithms" in conjunction with Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis to analyze your body score, and it can store profiles for various members of your family (it can store up to 16 profiles). It syncs the data over Bluetooth to the Mi Fit app, and you can get an overview of your weight as well as other metrics from within the app.

"To give you a realistic picture of your health and fitness, Mi Body Composition Scale syncs your data to Mi Fit app so that you can see all your data in one easy-to-read graph, making it easier to track your progress and take control of your activities," Xiaomi says.

The Mi Body Composition Scale, according to Xiaomi, has a reading precision of 50 grams and a weighing range between 5kg and 150kg. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity option and is compatible with devices running on Android 4.4 and above, as well as iOS 8.0 and above.

It seems, Xiaomi is ramping up its smartphone offerings as well. The company on Wednesday, March 14, launched the Redmi 5 in India at a starting price of Rs 7,999. Successor to last year's Redmi 4, the Redmi 5 completes Xiaomi's portfolio of affordable Redmi phones in India, a series that includes phones like the Redmi 5A and the Redmi Note 5, as also the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The most striking aspect of the Redmi 5 is the fact that it's the most affordable bezel-less phone with an 18:9 aspect ratio in the Indian market right now. Also, it's the cheapest phone in the Indian market, right now, to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor.

Xiaomi makes a lot of great lifestyle products and having to buy them locally is significantly easier than importing them from China. It is quite evident, Xiaomi is scaling up its product portfolio, especially with regards to fitness, in India. The Mi Brand is synonymous with offering good fitness tracking on a reasonable budget. The Mi Body Composition Scale is another product that draws attention to itself through its aggressive pricing.

The scale itself is made out of ABS plastic with a polished glass coating on the top, and there are stainless steel electrode pads that are used to measure the muscle mass and BMI. The glass coating gets an anti-slip finish to ensure you don't slide off the scale even when your feet are wet.

It runs on four AAA batteries, which are included in the box, and Xiaomi claims a battery life of over eight month. The ability to sync with Mi Fit is the standout feature, and the added metrics on offer with the Mi Body Composition Scale makes it more attractive.

The Mi Body Composition Scale is the second-generation smart scale and is now available for online purchase from Xiaomi's Mi.com/in website starting from today, March 15 in just single colour option, that is white. Already sales are on a record high, beyond estimation, on the launch day, a good news for certain.
