An Iranian man known as the dirtiest man in the world who didn’t have a bath for the past 60 years passed away at the age of 94. This was shortly after his first bath.
He died on October 23 in the village of Dejgah in Iran's southern province of Fars.
Amou Haji had this strange belief that having a bath with soap and water would make him sick.
Some followers may find it difficult to digest the fact that the Iranian man who looked like a typical caveman lived on raw animal meat and a pack of cigarettes.
As he had experienced some emotional setbacks in his youth, Amou resolved not to have a bath with soap and water and he followed the same strictly.
An article published in Tehran Times reported that Haji would eat road-kill and smoke a pipe filled with animal excrement. Pictures on social media show him smoking several cigarettes at once.
According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, he would sleep in a “grave like hole” and in winter he would stay in a four walled shack that the villagers built for him.
Given the strange life Haji led, a documentary titled ‘The Strange Life of Amou Haji’ was created in 2013.
Local Doctors said that he was in good health despite his bad hygiene practices. Villagers respected his decision of not bathing, however a few months ago they convinced him to do so.
Unfortunately, he became seriously ill within days after his first bath.
