World Earth Day is Celebrated World Wide Today ; Topic Being ‘Invest in Our Planet’
On World Earth Day millions of people get together to discuss environmental issues such as deforestation, pollution, over-population, depletion of ozone layer and the ever concerning topic of climate change.
World Earth Day or International Mother Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22.

The theme this year is to ‘Invest in our planet.’ The theme in 2021 was to ‘Restore our Earth’ while in 2020 the theme was ‘Climate Action.’
Various events, meets and conferences are held to discuss topics associated with our environment all over the world on this day.

The first World Earth Day took place on 21 March, 1970 and it was proposed by peace activist John McConnell. A month later United States Senator Gaylord Nelson held a nationwide environmental teach-in which was renamed ‘Earth Day.’
On this occasion Google has made a series of animations of four locations to show how climate change has impacted our planet.
On April 22 when you open Google on chrome internet browser, you’ll be welcomed by a timelapse animation which will be changed every hour by Google. The animations will showcase the impact of climate change across a period of time.
The images are of places like Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Sermersooq in Greenland, Great Barrier Reef in Australia and Harz Forests in Germany.
Sand Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik created beautiful sand art to mark ‘World Earth Day.’
He shared the photograph of his creativity and tweeted, “On #EarthDay2022 let us pledge to conserve the natural resources & make Earth a better place for all creations of God- Let us work together to make this Greener . #WorldEarthDay My SandArt at Puri beach.
EarthDay.Org believes that a green future is a prosperous future and while there is a time to resolve the crisis, we still need to act fast as time is short and World Earth Day is a reminder of that.
People will use this day to pledge, take initiatives, educate and participate in campaigns to improve environmental literacy to make our planet healthier not only for us but for future generations.
