Volvo SUV Crashed near NH 48, Man And Family Dead
A truck carrying a high load of metal sheets falls onto one of the safest SUVs. The car was crushed from the roof, claiming the lives of all passengers. Increases concern regarding road safety and car durability.
Volvo being one of the most advanced and safest car brands has claimed that their cars are strong enough to withstand high amounts of pressure. Volvo came up with its revolutionary advertisement where it showed a drop test of its car which was released from a height. The car touched the ground without any issue and was more or less safe. Most of the marketing campaigns of Volvo showcase the durability and solidarity obtained by the cars. These are some of the pivotal features of the automaker.
Despite all these campaigns, Volvo failed to explain the reason for a deadly car crash that occurred in NH 48. According to reports, a family including the CEO of a company was travelling to the hometown in Sangli around 11 AM. A truck that was carrying 26-tonne steel material, toppled on the Volvo XC 90 which is regarded as one of the safest SUVs. Soon after, the car was crushed and all the six members who were present in the vehicle were claimed off their lives.
The incident happened near the Bangalore-Tumkur highway stretch, near a toll booth. According to the spectators, the truck lost control and tumbled on a milk truck and lastly onto the SUV. The CEO, the driver of the car braked hard to avoid a collision however, it fell right onto the roof of the car crushing it entirely. The incident created massive congestion on the highway which took hours to improve.
Police claimed that an empty truck or a lighter load bearing on the truck could have saved lives and possibly avoided fatal car damage. Investigations are underway to assess whether the truck’s bearing capacity was higher than the limit or not. While the Ministry of Transportation has laid certain norms and protocols for heavy-loaded trucks and systematic load capacity, certain truckers have been going against the rule and are taking higher load capacity.
Many truckers have been fined for unlawful carrying of materials which is causing road safety issues for other travellers on the road. Meanwhile, Volvo has not made any statement regarding the safety of their cars and how the safety was compromised. Road safety has reduced massively where majority of the challenges are caused because of not following appropriate protocols and regulations while driving on road.
In another incident that happened near Mumbai, a five-year-old boy was killed because of the impact of an Airbag. While Airbags are meant to protect and safeguard the driver and other passengers, Senior Inspector, Sanjay Ghumal, Vashi Police Station claimed that “Another car coming from behind hit the first car and its airbags opened. The child, sitting in the car, was hit by the airbag. The people passing by took him to the hospital. He died during the treatment. A case has been registered." This is again a sheer example of road safety and precautions maintained by the automakers.
