Viral Video of An Angry Passenger Assaulting The Pilot of IndiGo Flight Evokes Mixed Reactions
A video capturing an enraged passenger rushing up to and striking the pilot of an IndiGo flight has gained widespread attention on social media.
A video of an irate passenger running up to the pilot of an IndiGo flight and hitting him has gone viral on social media.
The co-pilot Anup Kumar was making an announcement regarding the delay of the flight when an aggressive passenger, wearing a yellow hoodie, ran up to him to slap him.
A female flight attendant then stands in front of the pilot and tries to protect him. She tries to persuade the passenger to calm down, highlighting that such behaviour is not acceptable. She even breaks into tears while speaking to the passenger.
The accused has been identified as Sahil Kataria.
Another passenger who was wearing a sky blue hoodie then pulls Sahil Kataria behind him.

An irate passenger ran up from the last row and punched an Indigo Airlines Captain in the aircraft as the Captain was making delay announcement. The flight apparently was delayed for 13 long hours!! #Indigo #IndigoAirlines pic.twitter.com/tOfEvi8Qzf— Rosy (@rose_k01) January 14, 2024
The shocking video has evoked mixed reactions from online users. Some have pointed out that the behaviour of the passenger was completely wrong and labelled his behaviour as “atrocious” and “criminal.”
They also pointed out that unlike the passenger, the pilot didn’t retaliate and cause any harm to the passenger. He is not solely responsible for the delay and has to follow the commands of his superiors. Moreover, the flight couldn’t take off due to bad weather conditions.
There were other online users who complained about IndiGo Airlines inefficient work ethics. They’ve put a lot of customers at inconvenience by delaying the flight for thirteen hours at a stretch. Likewise, there have been many complaints of delays. Actress Radhika Apte took to her Instagram account and narrated a story of being locked at the aerobridge in Mumbai airport for hours.
Airlines are equally responsible and need to oversee that no passenger is put to inconvenience for long hours in such scenarios. Alternative arrangements need to be implemented in extreme cases.
The accused passenger was immediately asked to exit the plane. He is now in the custody of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The flight 6E2175 which was to take off at 7:40 am from Delhi to Dabolim, Goa, eventually took off at 5:33 pm.
Flight services have been hampered in North India due to fog and harsh weather conditions.
