Vikrant Massey Announces His Retirement from Movies Next Year, Leaving Fans Shocked and Confused
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey announces retirement from movies next year! Devoted followers are heartbroken, expressing their desire for a swift comeback after his much-needed break, hoping this is just a temporary pause in his incredible journey on screen.
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey’s fans are in disbelief as he made a startling announcement that he would be retiring from cinema next year. This surprising news, comes at a time when the actor has reached the pinnacle of success in his acting career.
Over the past few years he has delivered praiseworthy, back to back performances, in movies such as Sector 36, The Sabarmati Report, 12th Fail, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and so on.
At the recent 55th International Film Festival (IFFI), Vikrant Massey was honoured with the ‘Personality of the Year’ award. During the closing ceremony he spoke about his career path: “I always try to work responsibly. Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema.”
“Cinema remains a highly influential medium. ..Many in society draw inspiration from it. In India, .we produce about 1,800 to 2,000 films annually, encompassing ..all genres. While all kinds of films should be made, responsible cinema is thriving, and audience ..are appreciating it,” he added.

Vikrant’s The Sabarmati Report (2024), which was based on the Godhra train incident, resonated with the audience to a large degree. The movie was declared tax free in many states.
His performance was critically appreciated in ‘A Death in the Gunj’ in 2017. He featured in Mirzapur in 2018 which was a highly popular crime drama series. Critics have praised him for his originality and authentic performances.
There was a significant shift in his career, when he featured in 12th Fail, in which he portrayed Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an IPS officer. Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times said, “Massey takes the cake for delivering a brilliant performance. At every step, he brings a myriad of shades to his character. He owns up Manoj's character in all aspects.” Vikrant won the Filmfare Critics Award for best actor for this film.
Vikrant is currently busy with the shooting of 'Yaar Jigri' and 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan.’
