US Teen Kills Ex Girlfriend after She Tried to Break Up with Him

A sixteen year old boy from Colorado killed his fifteen year old ex-girlfriend in front of her little brother after she tried breaking up with him. 

The victim is 15 year old Lily Silva Lopez. The accused Jovanni Sirio-Cardona decided to end her life after she broke their six month long relationship four weeks earlier. 

In a video footage, the accused was seen sprinting down the bike path that runs along Lily’s Trailer Park home in Greeley, a suburb of Denver, at 3:45 pm on June 16. 

On the fateful day Lily screamed loud for her 13 year brother to run and save his life. He was watching television in the next room. 

Jovanni allegedly fired multiple shots at his ex-girlfriend in the hallway of her home.

Lily’s brother told police that he saw Jovanni Sirio-Cardona standing near his sister’s body on the ground and blood was dripping from the bridge of his nose. 

The brother pleaded to spare his life. The accused took away his brother’s iphone to prevent him from taking help. 

Jovanni took the brother’s help in dragging the victim’s body before he alone dragged her body into her bedroom. 

After Jovanni Sirio-Cardona fled the scene, the brother ran into his neighbour’s home and called 911. 

Her body had several gunshot wounds. 

Lily’s mom told police that Jovanni physically abused Lily and that affected their relationship. 

Last month when Lily desired to break the relationship, he allegedly threatened her by putting a gun into her mouth and telling her “she wasn’t going to break up with him and she needed to tell him she loved him.” 

Lily just completed her sophomore year and was an employee at Wing Shack. Her family described her in these words, “She enjoyed shopping, clothes, makeup and dancing. She loved to eat! Enchiladas were her favorite. She loved animals. She was a loving and caring friend with lots of spice.”

According to the Weld County District Court Division 17, Jovanni Sirio-Cardona is being tried as the prime adult suspect in this case. 

Sirio-Cardona was charged with first-degree murder after deliberation, second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery and possession of a handgun by a juvenile. He will be granted bail for $2 million.
