The Paris Olympics Games Concluded Successfully with Tom Cruise Being The Highlight of The Show

The Olympics closing ceremony in Paris was a show of extravaganza and ended on a positive note. The three-hour ceremony was watched by over 75,000 spectators. This was the first Olympics where the number of women athletes participating were equivalent to the number of male athletes.

The Olympic flame was carried by French swimmer Leon Marchand. Six medallists from all over the world joined him for the symbolic event of extinguishing the flame.

Athletes paraded the stadium casually holding their respective flags. Soon, the stadium was transformed into a world of science fiction giving the crowd a sci-fi aesthetic feel. A time traveller dressed in gold comes down to earth to discover vestiges of the history of the Olympic games.

Actor Tom Cruise who is known to perform his own stunts was the highlight of the show! He jumped from the high Stade de France rooftop with the help of a wire and collected the Olympic flag from gymnast Simone Biles.

Next, the audience sees him hitting the streets of Paris on a bike. In a pre-recorded video, they could see the flag reaching its destination, Los Angeles, where the next Olympics will be held. The Hollywood icon got a standing ovation from the crowd for this act. It was highly commendable of the star to perform these stunts at the age of sixty-two.

French band Phoenix entertained the large crowds with some of the athletes joining the group on stage. At last, the Olympics concluded with spectacular fireworks.

Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, said that the games were “sensational.”

He continued: “During all this time, you lived peacefully together under one roof in the Olympic Village. You embraced each other. You respected each other, even if your countries are divided by war and conflict. You created a culture of peace. This inspired all of us and billions of people around the globe. Thank you for making us dream. Thank you for making us believe in a better world for everyone.”
