The First Bullet Train Will Be Introduced in India. BEML Will Start Operations Soon

Bullet trains in India are a dream of many people, including the government, as this will significantly reduce travel time. Supporting the cause, BEML is all set to begin operations of bullet train manufacturing and development. The cost of the two sets of bullet trains will be close to 866 crores. The production will begin in Integral Coach Factory, owned by Indian railways. There will be eight coaches in each train which will be used to assess the demand and capabilities of Indian coach manufacturers.
BEML further added that “The price of each car is Rs 27.86 crore and the total contract value is Rs 866.87 crore which includes design cost, one-time development cost, non-recurring charges, one-time cost towards Jigs, fixtures, tooling, and testing facilities, which will be utilized for all future High-Speed projects in India,”
They further added that this will be a new development in the high-speed rail technology which will improve the economic stability of India. The high-speed trains will have the potential to reach a top speed of 280 KMPH.
BEML operates in various verticals, namely, Aerospace & Defence, Rail and Engineering, and Mining and Construction with best-in-class facilities and research and development centers which are strategically located. The factory is situated in Bangalore and the production and development will be done through the Banglore production unit.
The bullet trains will be a part of the long 508-kilometer Mumbai- Ahmedabad corridor which will reduce the time significantly and will also help in enhancing the connectivity between the two cities. Importing the rakes or coaches could be expensive thus, the centre's decision to produce the coaches in India came after a detailed analysis of the cost.
