The Coldest Morning Was Recorded in Delhi with Minimum Temperatures Reaching 4.9 Degrees

Delhi has had one of the coldest mornings, with minimum temperatures reaching 4 degrees Celsius. Earlier today, the minimum temperature was less than 8 degrees Celsius. The IMD has claimed that clear skies and wind from the mountains are among the leading reasons behind the extreme cold temperatures.

According to IMD cold waves are considered when the wind temperature has reached less than 10 degrees Celsius. Delhi recorded 8 degrees in temperature which is quite strong and also challenged daily life. Due to the likely absence of any significant western disturbance and the persistence of strong surface winds (10-20kmph) during the daytime minimum temperatures are likely to prevail in the range of 4-6°C over Delhi till the weekend,” claimed IMD

“We have further temperatures. Consistent cold northwesterly winds have been blowing over the past three days, and there has been ample snowfall in the higher reaches due to this western disturbance. Locally, skies are clear, and both these factors lead to a dip in minimum temperature,” claimed Vice President Mahesh Palawat.

Despite rising sunshine, the maximum and minimum temperatures would be below the usual and will also impact the future wethers. Delhi’s Ayanagar was one of the first to record 3.9 degrees Celsius which was even less than the minimum temperatures recorded. This indicates the coming cold waves that would be affected.
