Sylvester Stallone Meets Pope Francis at The Vatican; Both Indulge in Boxing Banter

Top Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone got the pleasant opportunity to spend some precious moments with the Pope. 

He visited the Vatican City with his wife Jennifer Flavin and their three daughters Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet. His brother Frank also accompanied him. 

It was at the  Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, where the American actor and his family got the opportunity to meet the head of the Catholic Church. 

After introducing his family, Stallone went on to say, “Well, thank you very much for taking time from your busy day. We appreciate this very much.”

To this the Pope replied, “I am honoured.”

Pope Francis further remarked, “We grew up with your films.”

In a lighthearted and a heartwarming gesture, Sylvester made a fist as if he was ready to box,  just like one of his famed movie characters. He exclaimed, “Ready ? We box.” 

Much to everyone’s surprise and delight, the pope mimicked and reciprocated the boxing gesture too. Kudos to Pope Francis for being a sport!

The group later gathered for a group photo which was shared on social media by Vatican news. 

Sylvester Stallone wrote a short post on IG about the meet, “Very rare and special moment. I was allowed to hold the keys that open every single door in the entire Vatican City. Including the Sistine Chapel. Of course they wouldn’t let me out of their sight with the keys. I don’t blame them.”
