South Lake Tahoe Woman Arrested For Licking Groceries at a Store

In a bizarre incident, a woman from California has been arrested for licking groceries worth $1800 at the South Lake Tahoe store.

The police were immediately informed about this strange act of Jennifer Walker on Tuesday afternoon. Chris Fiore spokesman for the South Lake Tahoe police department said that their officials were called in to handle the situation.

“When officers arrived on the scene, a Safeway employee informed them that the suspect put numerous pieces of jewelry from the store on her hands,” he said. “The suspect licked the jewelry then began to load her cart with merchandise from the store.”

The woman also had a shopping cart full of items however she had no means to buy the purchase. The cart was full of jewellery, meats, and alcohol, apparently licked by her.

Jennifer Walker was arrested for felony vandalism and was booked by the El Dorado County jail.

All the items in the cart couldn’t be sold and had to be destroyed for fear of contamination amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The woman, however, didn’t show signs of infection from the coronavirus.

Interim Police Chief Shannon Laney said that this incident comes at a critical juncture when supplies are less at local grocery stores and when the police department just has 20 police officers in this small town.

Chris Fiore stated, “What happened at the Safeway is remarkably unfortunate and took away resources from other folks who might have needed them at that time.”

Shannon Laney is also urging non-residents to stay away from the town of South Lake Tahoe which is a tourist destination at this time of crisis.
