Shell Lube Focuses on Reducing Total Cost of Ownership

Continuing its series of sector-specific forums and platforms, Shell Lubricants, the global market share leader in finished lubricants, hosted its 2nd Technology Forum for the mining sector. The event, attended by leading industry experts and senior officials, discussed insights on specific industry trends, challenges, best practices, and deliberated upon the future of the mining industry. Besides, the forum also discussed at length, the technological edge provided by lubricants in reducing the Total Cost of Ownership. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) represents Shell’s approach to lubrication as an essential value-chain component to enhance profitability. Along with this, Shell Lubricants also launched the Onsite Lube Analyst Lite Lab, a solution to reduce lubricant testing time to 10 mins from 7 days.


With the Shell Lube Analyst Lite Lab, on-site analyzers deliver fast, comprehensive test results for lubricants, including engine and gearbox oils, hydraulic fluids and transmission fluids. Staff members can test lubricants at remote locations and get the results within 10 minutes. The service can help in limiting downtime and bringing down maintenance costs by capturing early signs of abnormal wear and helping to extend oil-drain intervals. In addition to the LA Lite launch, there is also a big basket of services like Vibration monitoring through FRVA, Thermal Imaging, real-time on-line condition monitoring, contamination control which helps Mining customers in improving the reliability of equipment and helping optimize their Total Cost of Ownership.


The event witnessed healthy participation from different mining companies, OEMs and customers including Sany Heavy Industry India Pvt Ltd, GMMCO, Leeboy India and Thriveni Earthmovers. The forum provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss lubrication challenges and requirements along with showcasing Shell Lubricants’ innovative technology and its holistic industry-relevant solutions, with a special focus on offerings for modern mining operations.
