School Fees Up by 9 Times in 30 Years, Investor Claims Education No Longer Affordable
30X in one decade, Excessive rise in school fees for LKG students bedazzles parents. High inflation but less growth in jobs.
Education has become quite expensive and experts claim, parents need to earn more than average to sustain their kids for a good education provider. Aviral Bhatnagar, an investor by profession recently flagged the rising school fees. He took to X where he said fees for LKG have risen to 3.7 lakhs a year compared to 2.7 lakhs in the previous year. This will be challenging for the parents as the inflation is hitting the services whereas the earnings remain the same.
Bhatnagar is a founder and VC based out of Bengaluru and has claimed that the education fees for LKG is higher than that of post-graduate education. This alarming situation can risk children and their ability to obtain quality education. He has also claimed that education costs have increased by 30 over the past decade.
“While we focus on house prices, the real inflation has happened in education. Inflation-adjusted, school fees are up 9x and college fees are up 20x in the last 30 years. Education is no more affordable,” concluded the Bengaluru-based founder.
His post created an outrage on the internet as he believes the cost of living and fee structure of the kids do not go hand in hand but rather pressure the parents to earn more money. Another author, Manoj Sharma debated claiming education, food, and medicals to be the majority of the expenses borne by individuals.
X users also claimed that the cost of education fees is higher than the Annual package of Cognizant employee. With this invalid pay scales from global companies have reduced the balance between the quality life and education.
