Sagisu, a new-age intra-city logistics solution provider, has secured fresh round of seed funding of $2.1 million from prominent investors in the US and India to fuel its growth ambitions.
At a time when most trucking and logistics aggregators are pivoting their business models to keep pace with market pressures, Sagisu, a new-age intra-city logistics solution provider, has secured fresh round of seed funding of $2.1 million from prominent investors in the US and India to fuel its growth ambitions. The investment comes on the back of Sagisu’s steadily growing business model and a burgeoning customer base. The company will use the funds to build smart logistic hubs and further expand into new geographies along with scaling up their technology platform and sales /supply organization capabilities.
The company which originally started with operations in Bangalore is now in the process of creating capabilities to solve intra-city logistics across major markets in India. Sagisu is a go-to-market solution provider operated by Dispatch Global Inc. based out of New Jersey and Bengaluru in India. With upwards of 13 per cent, logistics spend as a ratio to India’s GDP is amongst the highest in the world. Given the growing urbanization, spends on intra-city logistics is expected to grow in double digits for years to come. Sagisu’s endeavor is to make the intracity goods movement seamless, efficient and faster by innovating on product lines and usage of technology to provide real-time information for enterprises and truckers, including shipping solutions.
US based Mithun Kadur, Founder & CEO of Dispatch Global Inc., said that Sagisu had been highly successful in providing multiple point logistics solutions to enterprises and intra-city truckers, especially for their problems related to price discovery, transparency, warehouse management and driver information management. Acceptance and adoption of their product lines had been very encouraging, thus setting us up for expansion across other markets in India, he said.
Unlike the prevailing intracity truck aggregators, Sagisu’s unique business model will blend the flexibility of aggregation with the reliability of in-house capacities aided by the data first approach to overcome the inefficiencies in logistics space. This would allow the company to engage strategically with its clients rather than the popular practice of tactical vendor relation with enterprise customers.
Nagesh Rajanna, CEO of India Business, said that Sagisu is a B2B Logistics platform with current operations in Bengaluru with 100+ aggregated trucks serving Mid Mile and Last mile transportation needs of clients in Retail, Ecommerce, FMCG, Logistics etc. Besides aggregation, to address the core need of reliability and inventory turn reduction, we will be investing in in-house capacity of fleet as well. Also, in addition to the current portfolio of 3 product lines, we are gearing up to roll out 2 more products in Indian markets in early 2019.” According to him, Sagisu is all set to launch first of its kind Smart Logistics Hubs in India which is positioned to resolve the issues of Low inventory turns, Increased Asset utility, Tailor-made product lines etc for its Enterprise Customers.
Sagisu also ensures that the product and operating SLAs are guaranteed during the entire chain of Delivery management. Through OBDs on its Trucks and an app on drivers’ mobile phones, businesses and customers alike can track their deliveries through a common dashboard. Besides solving larger logistics issues, Sagisu is also empowering the Truckers through an innovative " Own, Earn and Grow" model for Commercial Vehicle Drivers.
