Russian-Made Aircraft Catches Fire in Turkey, Passengers Rush for Lives

A Russian Sukhoi Superjet caught fire shortly after it landed at Turkey airport. However, the swift decision of the crew saved the lives of the passengers. The flight had 89 passengers and 6 crew members on board. It caught fire after the aircraft hard landed on the runway and damaged one of the engines.

A video was circulated where passengers were seen rushing and running for their lives as the aircraft was engulfed in fire moments after it landed sparking safety concerns for the passengers. The Governor of Turkey claimed that "All passengers were evacuated without injury, and thankfully, no one was harmed,"

The video also showed people sliding through the emergency door and panicking to get to a safe zone. One of the users of X claimed "In case of an evacuation you should leave your bags behind. Oh lord, after I saw the passengers rolling their bags, I would not think about the chaos in the plane. This behavior kills people,". "Anyone who takes their hand luggage with them in an emergency evacuation should be banned from flying for life," claimed another user.

Not just this but a similar situation was encountered by Moscow airport when an Aeroflot flight was struck by lightning and was forced to make a landing as it erupted in flames. In the incident close to 41 people lost their lives and family of the victims claimed of delayed evacuation process.

"A fire broke out in the engine of the SU95 type aircraft, registered RA89085, belonging to Azimuth Airlines, traveling from Sochi Airport in Russia to Antalya Airport, during landing. After landing at Antalya Airport at 21:34, an emergency call was made by the aircraft pilots due to the fire," said the ministry after the incident at Moscow airport.
