“Shame on you.” That’s how Rihanna fires at Snapchat for approving an advertisement that apparently mocked her past relationship. The popular Barbadian singer-actress is absolutely on fire at the moment.

It was just a few days back when a Tweet by Kylie Jenner fueled a share market crash for Snapchat. According to the young ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ member Snapchat’s site revamp was not really impressive. And now it’s Rihanna who delivered a rough criticism targeting Snapchat, for publishing an advertisement that referred to her relationship with Chris Brown, back in 2009.
Here’s the ad which is causing all the controversies -

The ad was promoting a mobile video game called, WOULD YOU RATHER! It gave out two options to viewers featuring these ex-partners. But the major cause of Rihanna’s annoyance is the domestic violence reference, the ad exploited.
What Happened between Rihanna and Chris Brown?
Rihanna was in a relationship with American singer-songwriter Chris Brown during 2009 and the duo were spotted together on several occasions. But all didn’t went well between the two celebs. In the same year Rihanna had to be hospitalized, reportedly she was severely beaten by her then boyfriend Chris Brown.

Brown was charged with domestic violence and he pleaded guilty.
Time does heal everything, but how would one feel if suddenly someone or something opens his or her old wounds? The situation exacerbates!
No wonder why Rihanna reacted like this on Instagram -

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there!” Rihanna wrote. “But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke out of it!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them … but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet … you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.”
As a matter of fact, the ad space for this particular advertisement was bought via Snapchat’s self-service advertising platform. But, one thing to keep in mind, no ad goes online unless and until it’s reviewed! Then how such a demeaning chunk pass through? “reviewed and approved in error”, Snapchat defined the matter this way.
On behalf of Snapchat it has also been stated, “This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service,”. They also added saying, “We are so sorry we made the terrible mistake of allowing it through our review process. We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again.”
But sometimes it is too late. Snapchat’s apology came around an hour after the ad went viral and users already started giving reactions.
Whatever happened is completely unacceptable. We stand with “Te Amo” girl Rihanna in this. For the sake of society, for the sake of humanity.
