Restrictions under Section 144 Imposed in Bengaluru as Covid Positive Cases Rise
Amid a spike in coronavirus cases, restrictions under Section 144 have been imposed in Bengaluru.
As covid cases in Karnataka are surging crossing 6,000 cases in the highest single-day rise this year, Bengaluru authorities on Wednesday ordered fresh restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC, which are to be imposed in the city starting today.
According to government order, the operation of amenities including swimming pools, gymnasiums, party halls in apartments, and residential complexes within the limits of the city have also been prohibited.
All kinds of public gatherings in large numbers and other activities will also be banned in the city to stop the virus spread.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru police Commissioner Kamal Pant has prohibited rallies, demonstrations, public gatherings, functions, and group prayers to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.
Karnataka on Tuesday reported over 6,000 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest single-day spike this year. The state reported 5,279 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, its second-highest count this year.
