According to sources DG was in his base reviewing with the officers regarding the plan for Rajnath Singh’s visit to Chennai where he developed strong chest pain and was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital around 2:30 PM. His last breath at 7 PM created a matter of sorrow

Rajnath Singh and MK Stalin were seen paying their tribute to the DG Pal. “Deeply saddened at the untimely demise of Shri Rakesh Pal, DG, Indian Coast Guard in Chennai today. He was an able and committed officer under whose leadership ICG was making big strides in strengthening India’s maritime security. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated in a post through X.

Rakesh Pal was the 25th Director General of the Indian Cost Guard who joined last year. He was a profound member of the Indian Naval Academy. Throughout his journey, he was appointed in various departments which included Commander Coast Guard region (North West region), and Gandhinagar Deputy Director (Plan and Policy).

He was also experienced in handling ICGS ships such as ICGS Samarth, ICGS Vijit, and ICGS Ahaliyabai. He also received medals from the President. He was honored with a Tatrakshak medal. His dedication and passion for Indian Coastal protection was unmatchable. His planning and strategies during the entire tenure of his career proved not only to be worthy but a great sustenance to future invasions.
