Queen Elizabeth II Celebrated Her 93rd Birthday with an Impressive Military Parade

After decades in the spotlight and in her 67-year reign as Queen of England, the wily nonagenarian is still at the center stage, which is proved by the arrangements recently made to celebrate the Queen's official birthday this Saturday.

Her birthday was made special when her honor guards hosted the largest military parade of the year in Britain also known as the annual ‘Trooping of the Colour’ for the monarch who turned 93.

In celebration, her majesty was accompanied by the members of the royal family, all were out in bright dresses and uniforms specially designed for the birthday festivities on Horse Guards Parade, where the Colour of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards have trooped. Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was also a part of the ride with Prince Harry inside a carriage.

The Queen rode alone sitting on the plump-pillowed seats in the best and brightest carriage of all, which was encased in glass windows. The Queen also waved her hand, to the thousands of her fans, subjects and tourists lining the streets waiting to catch the glimpses of the Queen.

The parade that followed was the most impressive show of pageantry and soft power. Even by royal standards 400 musicians, 1,400 soldiers dressed in their best and 200 horses, were part of Britain’s largest military parade of the year.

The Queen also carried out an inspection of her troops after which a 41-gun salute from Green Park in her honor was conducted. In the evening the royals appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a Royal Air Force fly past in several jets. The day was full of spectacular moments.

Though the day is officially celebrated as her birthday the Queen turned 93 much before in April, which she celebrated privately with her family. As Queen, she has two birthdays, which includes the public celebration. For more than 250 years, the sovereign in England has celebrated his or her birthday alongside the military parade.

Queen Elizabeth II is Britain’s longest reigning monarch, coronated to the throne more than 67 years ago. She is still the master at the game who oversaw all decision in regard to diplomacy, though there are no real ‘deliverables’.

Last week, She clearly won over US President Donald Trump during his visit to England, when he hailed her as “Great, Great woman”. Three years ago when Barack Obama was in London, he also said of the queen, “She is truly one of my favorite people”.
