Due to the pandemic, the guest list is limited to only 30 guests and the duration of the funeral ceremony would be 50 minutes.
All the attendees will have to follow the Covid-19 safety protocol that includes maintaining social distance by sitting apart and wearing masks.
Members of the British Royal Family will not wear military uniforms for the funeral thereby breaking age-old tradition.
Queen Elizabeth will reach the venue in a state Bentley accompanied by a lady-in-waiting although she’ll sit alone during the service.
A four-member choir will be present in the ceremony, singing Prince Philip’s chosen pieces.
Prince Philip will be finally laid to rest at St. George’s Chapel at the Windsor Castle. The military will be involved in the funeral ceremony.
Action Stations which is a naval tradition and an announcement sounded on a naval warship to signal all hands that are serving on that ship must go to the battle stations will be played at the end of the service.
In honour of Prince Philip’s association with the Royal Navy during the Second World War, buglers of the Royal Marines will perform a wartime alert which is a tradition of naval funerals.
The two brothers William and Harry will not walk side by side in the procession and instead, they will be separated by their cousin Peter Phillips during the funeral.
This is the first time the brothers are meeting after Henry’s sudden and surprising relocation to the United States. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle who is pregnant will not be attending the funeral as advised by her physician.
Prince Philip’s body will be carried in a customized Land Rover, painted a military green that was designed specifically by Prince Philip more than 15 years ago. The procession will set off before 3 pm while the duke’s coffin will be followed by the members of the royal family. Prince William will walk ahead of Prince Harry inside the chapel during the ceremony.
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh passed away this month at the age of 99 on 9 April.
