The presumed human remains of the victims of the Titan sub tragedy have been found according to the US Coast Guard.
The Titan sub imploded under the surface of the Atlantic ocean when it set out towards the ‘Titanic’ wreckage.
It lost contact with its mother ship on June 18 off Newfoundland, Canada.
Metal pieces from the Titan were seen wrapped in tarps and being carried away in trucks in St John’s Canada.
Five major pieces of the sub have been recovered. The landing frame and rear cover were found among the debris according to US Coast Guard officials. Another large piece was recovered with wires attached to it.
The debris will be transported aboard a US Coast Guard cutter to a port in the US for further analysis.
“United States medical professionals will conduct a formal analysis of presumed human remains that have been carefully recovered,” the agency said.
The sub’s remains were found last week by a remote operated vehicle which was sent roughly 12,500 under water.
The people aboard the Titan sub were British adventurer Hamish Harding, French submarine expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, co-founder and the chief executive officer of the deep sea exploration company OceanGate Stockton Rush.
This is the end of the search operations of the sub ‘Titan; a tragedy that captured the attention of the world.
