The bus approached IRT Polytechnic College when it lost control and toppled. The fire and rescue teams were informed about the incident post which they reached the spot shortly.

The deceased passenger, identified as R Prisco from Levijipuram died on the spot and could not be taken to a hospital. The Driver of the bus fled the scene after the accident and as per reports from the investigations, it seems like the driver dozed off on the wheel leading to the deadly crash.
A similar, incident happened in Kunnur a few days back where a School bus toppled and claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl. The incident took place near Valakkai Bridge in Kunnur, Kerela. A video circulated on social media shows the bus losing control on a slope and overturning.
The bus belonged to Kurumathur Chinmaya School which was dropping off students after the school was over. The incident also injured 14 students who were sent to the nearest hospital for recovery. The video also shows the deceased girl falling out of the bus and being crushed as the flips sideways.
Residents and homes near the vicinity rushed to the spot and rescued the injured students. An FIR has been recorded against the bus driver for homicide and driving the bus dangerously. The licence of the bus driver will be cancelled and the Motor Vehicle Department to intervene in the matter to bring justice.
In the video, a yellow school bus with students in it was seen driving on a slope. However, soon out of nowhere the bus lost its control and fell sideways on the road. The video was recorded from a CCTV installed in a home opposite the accident spot. The bus was an old model, raising suspicions regarding the controls and functioning. The investigations will determine whether the bus condition was poor.
The series of Incidents in 1 week highlights the road safety concerns. While many licence seekers use substitute ways of obtaining a licence, such issues will prevail until a generalised law or Act is enforced. The death of a student on the school bus and a passenger on an intercity bus concerns the safety of thousands of people travelling on the road and parents who rely on the school bus for the safe transportation of their children.
