Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra Bestowed With a Long List of Awards

Olympic winner Neeraj Chopra’s life has transformed overnight after he secured a gold medal in the men’s javelin throw in the Tokyo Olympics. He impressed audiences when he set a record by his throw distance of 87.5m. 

He has become the second Indian to win an individual gold in the Olympics and India’s first-ever medal winner in Track and Field in the Olympics. 

The Olympic champion’s name is trending high on all media and social media platforms. Neeraj’s social media profiles have gained numerous followers following his Olympic win.  

Besides receiving appreciation and praises from politicians to actors, Neeraj will be receiving a huge list of rewards. 

List of awards: 

  • Haryana government has announced a Rs 6 crore cash prize and a class I category government job. 
  • Punjab government has announced a cash reward of Rs 2 crore. 
  • The IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore. In addition to this, they would be creating a jersey with the number 8758 which represents the throw distance they won him the gold medal. 
  • The Manipur government announced a cash prize of Rs. 1 crore. 
  • Businessman Anand Mahindra has announced a SUV XUV 700 gift for Neeraj. 
  • IndiGO airlines announced unlimited free travel for Neeraj for a year. 
  • Indian online education app BYJUs has announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore for Neeraj Chopra.

Neeraj expressed that he dedicated the medal to Milkha Singh as the sportsman always desired that the Indian track and field athletes shine in the Olympics. 

The sportsman who is a firm believer in destiny said that he won the gold despite his injuries, pandemic, and other challenges so the time lost was good for him in a way. 

The Javelin champion aims to win more medals for the country in the years to come. For now, he’ll take a break and then focus on next year’s Commonwealth, Asian Games, and World Championships. 

Standing on the podium, seeing the Indian flag being hoisted, and listening to the national anthem Neeraj felt that his hard work and sacrifices have paid off. He expressed, “There are no words to describe those feelings, it can only be felt, and I know how it feels.”
