Michael Schumacher’s Family Releases Statement Ahead of His 50th Birthday

Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher’s family released a statement ahead of his 50th birthday which was on January 3. The statement read, “We are very happy to celebrate Michael’s 50th birthday tomorrow together with you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts that we can do this together.”

Schumacher’s successful racing journey took a disastrous turn when he met with a serious accident while skiing on December 29, 2013. He was skiing on the slopes of Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. In the accident, the F1 racer hit against rocks that split his helmet, such was the massive impact. Schumacher was rushed to a hospital and the doctors in Grenoble put him on a medically induced coma to reduce the brain swelling. Schumacher gained consciousness in June 2014 and was finally released from the hospital.

Michael Schumacher was always known to be a very private person. He always followed this principle in his personal life and applied it to his career as well. Respecting this, his family decided to keep his health conditions private, post the tragedy.

Speaking about his health condition, the family of the 7 times Formula 1 world champion stated, “He is in the very best hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him. Please understand if we are following Michael’s wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, as it has always been, in privacy. At the same time, we say thank you very much for your friendship and wish you a healthy and happy year 2019.”

Michael is currently receiving special treatment in his home in Switzerland. Schumacher’s family includes his wife Corinna, daughter Gina Maria and his son Mick. In honour of him and to continue his charity work, Schumacher’s family launched the ‘Keep Fighting Foundation’ in 2016. As a gift to Michael and his fans, the family spoke about the release of an official ‘Michael Schumacher app’ that would help fans to celebrate and review his success through a virtual museum.

It is clearly evident that Michael’s family is proud of the F1 champion’s achievements which is why they are leaving no stone unturned to relive his victories, achievements and fond memories. The family is indeed taken meaningful steps to honour Schumacher by releasing a statement ahead of his birthday, an official app dedicated to him, ‘Keep Fighting Foundation’ and Michael Schumacher Private Collection exhibition in Cologne. “We want to remember his victories, his records and his jubilation”, said the statement.
