Meta Employee Fired for Buying Household Item with Meal Credit
Tech Giant Meta terminates close to 24 employees for breaching compliance and ordering personal and household products through credit meals. Many just have been warned.
Giant companies tend to take care of their employees, which results in providing them with free coupons and meal credits. However, misuse of such coupons is a breach of compliance. In a recent shocker, close to 24 employees of Meta have been fired for misusing the meal credits being provided to them. Not only this, but they have been using the meal credit to fund their personal and household expenses. This incident was reported from Los Angeles where Meta has a physical office.
Some of the common items being purchased by the employees through their $25 meal were Acne pads and Wine glasses which is a pure breach of compliance. Moreover, many employees have been seen pitching two meal cards and using them for something else. Smaller offices of Meta are not given free food on campus but Ubereats and Grubhub credit passes are shared which can be used to avail food.
All the staff at the Meta office are given $20 for breakfast and $25 for lunch. But in a twist, employees were seen purchasing different items which include household items such as wine glasses and acne pads. This resulted in their termination from the company as they were caught during an audit. Tech giants only terminated employees who were found to be doing malpractice with their credit passes.
One of the ex-employees of Meta wrote “On days where I would not be eating at the office, like if my husband was cooking or if I was grabbing dinner with friends, I figured I ought not to waste the dinner credit,”. The employee wrote in Blind which is an anonymous review website to post company reviews and information.
