Clearly, Indian fans have been disappointed at the team’s loss against winning team Australia. Australia defeated India by six wickets. Many took to social media channels to express their pain and frustration. Unfortunately, some even resorted to trolling.
One of the victims of the trolls was Australian cricketer Glen Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman, who is of Indian origin. They targeted her for supporting Australia despite being of Indian origin.
One user commented, “Only Indian who is happy today.”
Another wrote, “Thanks don't come back again👏”
A third user commented, “Ladki bhi le gye or cup bhi 😂”
Vini however couldn’t tolerate the wrath of the trolls and took the tollers to task. She asked the toxic trollers to “stay classy.” She emphasized on the fact that you could be of Indian origin and still support the country where you were born and raised. A valid point raised !
She explained that her support for her husband’s team is natural.
Check out her post below :
“aaaaand cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy.”
“Can't believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband plus father of your child plays in #nobrainer. Take a chill pill and direct that outrage towards more important world issues,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Vini Raman is a pharmacist. She married Glenn Maxwell last year and they have a young baby.
Indian viewers had high hopes for Team India’s victory as the players had been in top form all along. So, India’s failure in the finale was a major disappointment for Indian audiences.
According to Brett Lee, India were definitely the hot favourites but what got Australia an edge is their “never give up” attitude.
Brett Lee said, “There was a lot of people that wrote the Aussies off saying they weren’t a chance, they did get off to a slow start.”
“But they proved once again last night that with that tenacity, dedication and self-belief amongst the team that you can actually pull anything off.”
