The AQI standards being between 201 and 300 is "poor", 301-400 "very poor" and 401-500 "severe". Delhi recorded 467 at 10 am, last Friday.
Consequently, a thick layer of toxic smog engulfed the national capital, compelling schools at various areas, remain closed.
Due to low wind speed, the dispersion process gets very slow, resulting in stagnation of the pollutants in the air.
