Katrina Kaif Believes in Challenging Unrealistic Beauty Standards And Celebrating Our Unique Identities
Katrina Kaif recently spoke to Economic Times about how she juggles between her career and running her beauty brand Kay Beauty. Through her brand she challenges unrealistic beauty standards and wishes to build a community where women feel supported and accepted.
Katrina Kaif is an inspiration to many women across the globe. People have been charmed by her simplicity, grace and elegance. She has entertained the public with amazing movies like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘New York’ and the very recent ‘Merry Christmas.’
The actress who got married to actor Vicky Kaushal is now juggling between her acting career and her beauty line-up ‘Kay Beauty.’ She recently discussed with Economic Times, how she strikes a balance between the two.
She also discussed “unhealthy beauty standards” that many people are struggling with today. She believes that aiming for unrealistic beauty standards takes away our unique identities and self-confidence.
The actor said, “As a model and actress, I've experienced the intimidation of unrealistic beauty standards, which inspired me to create a community that champions acceptance and diverse representation. It's crucial for women to understand their unique strengths and power. Constant exposure to ideal beauty standards does not encourage confidence or the celebration of one's unique identity., power and strength”
The actress is also heavily engaged with entrepreneurial work. She is passionate about her work but admits that it is equally demanding.
Katrina added, “Balancing my career as an actor and as an entrepreneur is incredibly rewarding but also demanding. There are times when my husband tells me to put down the phone at the dinner table, but I often have just one last thing to do for a key launch. He understands that this dedication comes from extreme passion. I believe anyone entering the business or entrepreneurial world should only do so if they feel they have something to contribute and a deep connection to the product they are offering.”
Through Kay Beauty, Katrina Kaif desires to build a community where every woman feels welcomed, accepted and supported. She desires to challenge ideal beauty standards and give more importance to one’s authentic identity. The community is for women who struggle with body image issues. The tagline of Kay Beauty ‘It’s Okay to Be You’ #ItsOkToBeYou enriches the idea of celebrating our unique personalities.
