IPL 2024 Auction: The Big Buys and Bold Bets - Full Squads Revealed

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction, a total of 72 players joined the ten franchises, resulting in an enormous expenditure of Rs. 230.45 crore. The Australian pace bowling pair, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins emerged as the top picks, igniting intense bidding wars. Pat Cummins secured a hefty bid of Rs. 20.5 crore and was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Starc shattered all previous records with an astounding bid of Rs. 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders. Among Indian players, Harshal Patel commanded the highest price, being the costliest among Indians as he joined Punjab Kings for a significant sum of Rs. 11.75 crore.

During the IPL 2024 auction, 332 players from 13 different countries were up for bidding. Among these players, 216 were Indian. After player retention, releases, and trades, the 10 IPL 2024 clubs had a maximum of 77 spots available, including 30 overseas player slots.

However, only KKR (23) and RR (22) chose not to fill their entire quota of 25 players, resulting in the selection of 72 players during the bidding process. Nonetheless, all thirty international player slots were filled.

Apart from Starc and Cummins, who joined the elite 20 crore club in the IPL, other players who commanded premiums of 10 crores or more at the IPL 2024 auction were New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell (Rs 14.00 cr to CSK), Indian pacer Harshal Patel (Rs 11.75 cr to PBKS), West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph (Rs 11.50 cr to RCB), and Australian pacer Spencer Johnson (Rs 10 cr to GT).
