We know Paris as the gorgeous blonde socialite who would turn up with her fabulous ensembles, pricey bags and a tiny little dog at happening parties and events. She garnered the tag of being the spoilt rich brat who lived an extravagant life; thanks to her Hilton fortress.
Little did we know that the real woman behind the façade had undergone emotional and physical abuse during her teen years! In the new documentary many interesting facts have been unraveled; shocking facts you haven’t known about the Hilton heiress. One of them being that she was mentally and physically tortured in Utah’s Provo Canyon School (PCS)!
Being a troubled teenager Paris was admitted to several reformatory schools however she cannot forget the experience she had in the last school even to this day.
She was placed in solitary confinement for hours, forced to take unknown medications, and was bullied by the staff. She revealed that she had nightmares about her stay in this particular school.
The school however released a statement saying, “We are aware of media referencing Provo Canyon School. Please note that PCS was sold by its previous ownership in August 2000. We therefore cannot comment on the operations or patient experience prior to that time.”
He further added, “Over the last two decades, mental health treatment has evolved from a behaviors-based foundation to a personalized, trauma-informed approach. We work with extremely complex individuals who often present a danger to themselves and others. Provo Canyon School is committed to the safety of our patients and staff.”
It is said that Hilton didn’t want to talk about the abuse in the documentary albeit she changed her mind later. She said that the director “just kept pushing me more and more. And then I realized that this could actually help a lot of people and empower others.”
Even in a recent interview with People, Hilton defined her stay in PCS as “continuous torture.” She said, “I think it was their goal to break us down. And they were physically abusive, hitting and strangling us,” Hilton, now 39, alleged. “They wanted to instill fear in the kids so we’d be too scared to disobey them.”
In an exclusive interview with Fox News former students who attended school during the same time as Hilton, have said that Hilton’s revelations about the school are absolutely true and valid. Paris Hilton has given others the courage to break their silence and called her a “Hero.”
“For many years, many people have tried to expose this industry and tried to shed a lot of light on it and it hasn't been able to gain traction. Someone like Paris to share this kind of story is really brave. This isn't just Provo Canyon School. This is a multibillion-dollar industry and it's been overlooked for many because programs often say the kids are 'emotionally unstable.' With Paris speaking out, it's getting a lot more attention”, Lee Goldman, 33, said who attended PCS from 2002 to 2004.
Many of Paris’s adulthood behaviour have been attributed to the trauma she had undergone in this particular school.
“This is Paris” which is currently streaming in her YouTube channel, documents her rise to fame, explores her childhood traumas and presents the “real Paris” for the very first time. It is an untold but true story of the business mogul and her situations that shaped her into the woman she is today.
“I feel by me telling my story and having the courage and being brave is going to help a lot of other people who want to come out and tell their story,” she says. “And expose these places for what they’re doing to children. My ultimate goal is to shut these places down because they shouldn’t exist and no child should ever have to go through what I went through.”
Paris Hilton’s story is an eye opener for many parents and children that certain schools can be places of horror for many kids.
