Icy Pond Killed 11 Year-Old Boy While He Tried to Save His Friend

He was a boy from Queens, just 11 year old and killed by the icy pond, into freezing water! Killer? The icy pond itself!

As per the sources, the older friend fell down while playing and Perez walked forward to save his friend. But the ice sheets were too thin to hold even an 11 year-old. Perez fell through!

Anthony Perez’s friend immediately ran for help and the firefighters arrived around 4:05 pm. Unfortunately, it was too late then.

The firefighters pulled Perez out in unconscious state. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and there he was pronounced dead.

The incident is an example how deadly these icy ponds are! In fact, when Perez’s body was rescued he wasn’t breathing at all, as per the sources.

After the occurrence took place, this tweet was published by FDNY (Fire Department of the City of New York).

We implore parents - make sure your kids know the ice in the city of New York, on these lakes and ponds, is not safe -#FDNY Deputy Chief Healy from the scene at Forest Park #Queens, where a child was removed from the water after falling through the ice http://on.nyc.gov/2E9GduM

The neighbors describe Perez to be of a good heart. Another exclaimed he always said “Hello!”, he was a respectful kid! Perez’s parents’ reaction hasn’t been received yet.

It’s so heartbreaking that the world has lost such a good soul! Wherever you are Perez, rest in peace!
